Cork and Derry keeping fingers crossed on weather

Cork City and Derry City will both hope that tonight’s FAI Cup semi-final clash does not fall victim of the weather as they face each other in a game that could also have some bearing on the League race.

The pair are neck and neck in the League race (though Cork have played one game less) and whichever team wins tonight’s Cup tie will also strike a psychological blow for the League campaign.

Cork City manager Damien Richardson said: “I think it will be a close encounter. It might be a game where the first goal is of absolutely vital importance. I’m hoping that it’s a game that nerves don’t destroy.”

Richardson has a number of injury concerns with first-choice strike duo John O’Flynn (groin) and Neal Fenn (ankle) doubtful while back-up striker Willie Bruton is cup-tied.

Derry City, meanwhile, will be near full strength with defender Clive Delaney (suspended) their only absentee meaning Mark McChrystal is likely to deputise.
