Longford Town 0 Shelbourne 2
Gary O’Neill scored for the fifth time in four games as Shelbourne all but guaranteed third place in the table to keep alive very slim hopes of retaining their title.
In a one-sided first half, Shels went ahead on seven minutes. Jason Byrne was played in by Gary O’Neill’s sublime ball over the top and he finished with aplomb.
Byrne then set up O’Neill who found the top corner from 20 yard to make it 2-0 on 26 minutes.
Dean Delaney then kept Shels in front with excellent stops either side of half time from Dessie Baker and Dean Fitzgerald.
