Jose Mourinho no longer believes it is a prerequisite of success in the Champions League to finish top of your group.

Mourinho has always insisted that nine points will guarantee a place in the knockout stages and while he set his sights on finishing top of the group in last year’s competition, the reward was a controversial tie with Spanish giants Barcelona.
