Minnock: Harps didn't prepare properly

Finn Harps’ defender Jonathan Minnock has claimed the club failed to prepare properly for life in the Premier Division and that is why they are currently bottom of the table.

The 28-year-old – rated one of the best defenders in the League – claimed that the club knew that the squad needed to be strengthened before the start of the season and that their failure has led to Harps lowly League position.

Minnock said: “There is no doubt that we were the strongest team in the First Division last year but I think we underestimated the step up in class that was needed.

“Others strengthened for this season and we did not. I think all the players knew we needed a few more players to compete but we never brought them in. But in the last few months we’ve got in some new players as well as keeping everyone we had.

“It’s been good for us and maybe if we had all the players we have now at the start of the season, we’d be in a better position.”
