Duff ruled out of Swiss game with knee injury
Chelsea midfielder Damien Duff has been ruled out of Ireland's crucial World Cup qualifier against Switzerland at Lansdowne Road on Wednesday.
A scan has revealed that the player damaged cartilage in his knee in Saturday's victory over Cyprus and will definitely miss the Swiss game.
He has since returned to Chelsea for further assessment and treatment.
Elsewhere, Stephen Reid has been given the all-clear for Wednesday after a scan on his knee, but Kevin Kilbane is nursing a dead leg.
Gary Breen has also returned to the squad after missing Saturday's game through injury.
