Danny Tiatto has quit international football with Australia to concentrate on getting Leicester back into the Barclays Premiership.

Tiatto played 27 times for the Socceroos over a 10-year period, earning his last cap in February in a 1-1 draw against South Africa in Durban.

The 32-year-old defender and Foxes captain, who was named supporters’ player of the year for last season, said: “I have decided to commit my full attention to Leicester, who have in turn pledged their commitment to me.

“I feel privileged to have represented my country on a number of occasions and would like to thank all those who supported me during my international career, especially the late Eddie Thompson who gave me my first opportunity in international football.

“I would also like to wish the current squad, coaching staff and administration all the success in the upcoming World Cup qualifying campaign and for the future.”
