Derry sink Shels to go top

Derry City 2 Shelbourne 1

Derry City 2 Shelbourne 1

Stephen O'Flynn was the Derry hero as he sunk champions Shelbourne with a stoppage time winner to surely end any hopes of them retaining their title.

O'Flynn blasted to the roof of the net after Dean Delaney failed to clear to send the Brandywell into raptures as Derry go three points clear of Cork City.

Derry maintained their form against Shelbourne this season as they had the perfect start with the lead goal after just three minutes.

Ciaran Martyn got the ball into the Shels box and Mark Farren crashed a shot to the roof of the net for his 16th league goal of the season.

Barry Molloy almost added to that but saw his shot come back off the bar.

Glen Crowe's header trickled over the line for Shels' equaliser on 57 minutes before Derry won it at the death.
