Charlton chief executive Peter Varney is analysing the possible repercussions after it was revealed the club’s official sponsor all:sports has been placed in administration.
Charlton were in the fourth and final year of the deal and must now decide whether to keep the all:sports logo on their shirt or find a new sponsor.
Both options could prove problematic. Charlton would lose out financially if they retained the existing emblem but if they did decide to look elsewhere, existing Addicks shirts would immediately become out of date.
“We’ve been aware for some time that all:sports, like so many other high-street retailers, has suffered from a steep decline in business,” Varney told the club’s official website, www.cafc.co.uk
“Behind the scenes we have been working hard to try and protect Charlton’s interests in this matter.
“Now an administrator has been appointed I will be making contact with them to try and establish the exact position of the company and how this is likely to affect the club going forward.
“Once I am in possession of more facts and information, I will hopefully be able to make a further statement.”
