Drogheda hold on to knock Bohs out

Drogheda United 2 Bohemians 1

Drogheda, who have never won the FAI Carlsberg Cup, booked their semi-final place as both sides finished with ten men.

Jermaine Sandvliet whipped over a corner from the right and Paul Keegan stabbed the ball home to give Drogheda the perfect start after just two minutes.

Damien Lynch increased Drogheda’s lead on 16 minutes from a penalty after Stuart Malcolm had been fouled inside the Bohemians area.

Keegan was dismissed for Drohgeda two minutes into the second half with Aidan O’Keeffe then giving Bohs hope when firing home within a further minute.

But Bohs midfielder John Paul Kelly was also dismissed five minutes from time and Drogheda held out for victory.
