Republic of Ireland midfielder David Connolly is poised to make his Wigan debut in the Barclays Premiership clash with West Brom at The Hawthorns.

Connolly joined the Latics for £2m (€2.9m) on transfer deadline day from Leicester, and with Henri Camara still out with a hamstring injury, should go straight into the line-up alongside Jason Roberts.

Boss Paul Jewell is still without goalkeeper John Filan [hernia], midfielder Gary Teale [foot] and defender Emerson Thome [thigh].

Another new signing, Josip Skoko, is likely to have to wait another week for his first appearance as Jewell is eager to ease the strain on the midfielder after his long-haul trip to play for Australia in the World Cup play-off against the Solomon Islands.

Team (from): Pollitt, Chimbonda, McMillan, Jackson, Henchoz, Johansson, McCulloch, Kavanagh, Mahon, De Zeeuw, Francis, Taylor, Bullard, Baines, Roberts, Connolly, Skoko, Wright, Walsh.
