Ashley Cole appeal confirmed
Ashley Cole will take his battle against the Premier League’s guilty verdict against him in the tapping-up affair with Chelsea to the highest authority in sport.
The Arsenal defender had his initial £100,000 (€146,687) fine reduced to £75,000 (€110,015) by a Premier League appeals committee but is determined to carry on the fight against the verdict.
A statement released to PA Sport from the player’s solicitor, Graham Shear of Teacher, Stern and Selby, read: “I can confirm that an appeal to the decision of the Football Association Premier League (FAPL) has been lodged, on Ashley Cole’s behalf, with the Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
“We hope that CAS will hear the appeal in the next few months.”
