Derry City and Shamrock Rovers will meet in a repeat of the 2002 FAI Cup final in this year’s Cup quarterfinals after this evening’s draw in Cork.

The Candystripes beat Rovers 1-0 on the day thanks to a Liam Coyle goal and a repeat result will not be backed against particularly as Derry are currently on top form and unbeaten in 16 games.

But Shamrock Rovers are now unbeaten in five matches having kept four consecutive clean sheets to climb away from the relegation zone and have already won at the Brandywell this season.

Elsewhere, top of the Premier Division Cork City will meet top of the First Division Sligo Rovers if they can overcome Finn Harps this evening.

If Cork do progress, it will be a repeat of the 1994 tie. On that occasion, Cork and Sligo were also top of their respective divisions with Sligo winning on their way to lifting the Cup.

The other two ties will see Bray Wanderers take on UCD or Longford Town while Drogheda United will face Wayside Celtic or Bohemians.

Bray Wanderers v UCD/Longford

Drogheda Utd v Wayside Celtic/Bohemians

Cork City/Finn Harps v Sligo Rovers

Derry City v Shamrock Rovers

Matches to be played week ending September 25
