A wonder goal from defender Jason McGuinness brought this dour tie to life as Cup Kings Shamrock Rovers laboured into the quarter-finals against the Munster Senior League minnows.

McGuinness sealed the win on 66 minutes when unleashing a 40-yard drive that crashed into the net off the underside of the crossbar.

Rovers led from the 42nd minute of a tedious game when 18-year-old Lee Roche headed home off a post after McGuinness knocked a free-kick back across goal.
