Wayside surprise Bohs to earn replay

Damian O’Neill was the Wayside hero with the most dramatic of late goals as the LSL side came from 2-0 down to force a replay at the Carlisle Grounds on Tuesday night.

Stephen Ward scored twice in the first half as Bohemians look like easing into the quarter-finals Bohs took just four minutes to break Celtic’s tame resistance as Stephen Ward swept home from Des Byrne’s though ball.

Ward was there again on 35 minutes to spin and blast a volley to the roof of the net following Fergal Harkin’s corner.

But with keeper Robbie O’Dowd inspired, Wayne Callaghan got Wayside back into the match on 67 minutes after being set up by brother Ian.

Then, with 91 minutes up on the clock, Alan McHugh flicked on a corner and central defender O’Neill blasted to the net off a post to gleeful celebrations.
