Severe punishments for Shels manager and midfielder

Shelbourne manager Pat Fenlon and midfielder Stuart Byrne have both been severely punished for their dismissals during Shels' 3-3 draw with Drogheda United earlier this season.

Both men lost their cool in the closing minutes of that game after Drogheda United had controversially taken a 3-2 lead when Declan O'Brien scored after referee John Feighery overruled assistant referee Dave Wogan who claimed O'Brien was sent off.

Fenlon was dismissed immediatley for his over the top protests - though he apologised immediately after the game for his conduct - while Byrne was sent off after the final whistle for his continued complaints to the referee.

Fenlon was given a four match ban and fined €1,000 as well as being warned about his future conduct while Byrne has been given a three-game ban.

The club has also been finded a total of €1,000 for two incidents which saw supporters invade the pitch after Jason Byrne's last minute equaliser and fourth official Dave McKeon hit by a roll of masking tape thrown in the tunnel area.

The incident involving Shelbourne chief executive Ollie Byrne and photographer Terry Collins, which also took place immediately after the game will be invesigated fully on September 6 by the Disciplinary Committee.
