Derry City 3 Cork City 1

Derry closed the gap on leaders Cork to just three points as they ended the Leesiders' 15-match unbeaten run.

A controversial penalty scored by Geroge O’Callaghan on the hour looked to have earned Cork a point.

However, ex-Cork striker Stephen O’Flynn restored Derry’s lead on 74 minutes before man-of-the-match Barry Molloy added the killer third goal 12 minutes from time.

Derry were rewarded for their bright start with the lead goal on six minutes when Clive Delaney headed a Pat McCourt free down for Gary Beckett to finish.
