Mourinho: 'You get what you pay for'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claimed the club had to pay £24.4m (€36m) for Lyon midfielder Michael Essien because “that’s the reality of modern football”.

There were suggestions that once again owner Roman Abramovich had spent too much on a player with the Ghanaian international but Mourinho believes Chelsea are simply operating in the real world.
