Scoreless draw at Belfield

Robbie Martin missed a second half penalty as Longford maintained their good league run.

Martin, who had scored from the spot in the previous two games, blasted his 78th minute spot kick off the Town bar after Pat McWalter had been pulled down by keeper Stephen O’Brien.

Minutes earlier, College keeper Darren Quigley had made the stop of the night to deprive Gary Cronin.

Longford had much of the possession in the first half but it was UCD who created the best opening on 24 minutes.

Stephen Hurley and Gary Dicker set up skipper Tony McDonnell who shot straight into the arms of Stephen O’Brien.
