Hammers sign Czech starlet

West Ham tonight completed the signing of striker Petr Mikolanda, after the Czech Under-21 international impressed on a pre-season trial.

Mikolanda is, however, unlikely to be the answer to Alan Pardew’s hunt for a top-class striker, but the West Ham manager saw enough potential in the 20-year-old to offer him a contract at Upton Park.
