The Celtic supporters hailed the arrival of Shunsuke Nakamura but it was unsung hero John Hartson and supersub Craig Beattie who struck to give Gordon Strachan his first victory in the Bank of Scotland Premier League as Celtic manager.

It could have been an even more memorable day for the new signing and the Welshman as both went agonisingly close to what would have been sensational hat-tricks.

But Celtic’s very own Mr Dependable kept his cool just before the break to score his fifth goal of the new campaign before Craig Beattie came off the bench for the third consecutive match to fire a stunning volley for his third of the season.
