Schalke today pulled out of the race to sign Milan Baros from Liverpool.

The Bundesliga side had wanted the 23-year-old Czech Republic striker to boost their strike force for their domestic and Champions League campaigns.

However, the club’s general manager Rudi Assauer spoke to Liverpool on the phone on this morning and it soon became clear a deal would not be struck, with the Anfield side ruling out any loan move.

“The club (Liverpool) only wants to sell,” said Assauer to club website www.schalke04.de.

“Eight to 10 million euros is impossible so Milan Baros will not be moving to Schalke.”
