Stuttgart coach Giovanni Trapattoni has added a second Danish player to his squad after finalising a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Jesper Gronkjaer.

The 27-year-old winger cost the Bundesliga side €5m and joins up with compatriot Jon Dahl Tomasson after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.

The former Ajax, Chelsea and Birmingham man is another piece in the jigsaw Trapattoni is now close to completing since taking over from Matthias Sammer last month.

Trapattoni has had to contend with the departures of Kevin Kuranyi, Alexander Hleb and Jurica Vranjes this summer, but is close to filling the gaps with Croatian midfielder Mario Carevic also expected to join before the start of the new season.
