Derry delight adds to Waterford's woes

Waterford United 1 Derry City 3

Mark Farren scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season as Derry made it five wins on the spin to move seven points clear of third-placed Shelbourne in the table, four behind leaders Cork City.

Derry took the lead on 18 minutes when Peter Hutton’s ball over the top caught the Blues defence square and Killian Brennan got in behind to shoot past Packie Holden for his fourth goal in five games.

Blues hit back to level on 31 minutes when Paul Crowley was played through to lob David Forde.

Farren restored Derry’s lead a minute before the break from Barry Molloy’s good ball before adding his second eight minutes into the second half to kill off the game.
