McArdle becomes Gill's first Athlone signing

New Athlone Town boss John Gill has made his first new signing, bringing in Fiachra McArdle from Dundalk.

The 21 year old Dundalk native spent almost four seasons at Derby County before returning to Ireland and signing for Shamrock Rovers under Liam Buckley.

The former underage international signed for his home town club at the start of this season and came on as a substitute against Athlone in the first game of the season in Golden Island Park.

He is expected to feature in the Town squad for the game against Limerick FC on Tuesday night next.
