Dynamo held by Thun

Champions League regulars Dynamo Kiev still have plenty of work to do if they are to reach the tournament’s third qualifying round.

The Ukrainian giants twice took the lead at home to FC Thun but the Swiss side struck back on both occasions to give themselves a 2-2 draw and two vital away goals.

A 19th-minute opener from Oleh Husev put the hosts in front, and although an own goal by Brazilian defender Rodolfo brought Thun level after 41 minutes, Maksim Shatskikh restored Dynamo’s lead just before the break.

However, Thun midfielder Silvan Aegerter struck a 66th-minute equaliser to ensure the two sides go into the second leg all-square.

Brondby have one foot in the next round though after a comfortable 2-0 win away at Dinamo Tbilisi.

Second-half goals from Morten Skoubo and Johan Elmander gave the Danish side a clear cushion for when they return to Denmark for the second leg next Wednesday.

The visitors’ task was made a whole lot easier by the dismissal of home defender Aleksandr Amisulashvili for a second bookable offence shortly before the interval.

Anorthosis Famagusta also have a two-goal advantage for the second leg thanks to a late double at home against Trabzonspor.

The Turkish visitors thought they had clinched a valuable away result when Fatih Tekke cancelled out a 25th-minute effort by Anorthosis defender Nicos Nicolaou with 15 minutes remaining.

But Nikos Frousos (82) and Klimenti Tsitaishvili (90) struck late on to ensure the Cypriot side have the upper hand for the return leg.
