Wright-Phillips seeks Chelsea talks
Shaun Wright-Phillips has asked for permission to speak to Chelsea after pulling out of Manchester City’s friendly at Macclesfield this afternoon.
City turned down a £20m (€29.1m) bid from the Barclays Premiership champions for their star man yesterday, since when there has been no further contact from the Stamford Bridge outfit.
However, as he was driven away from Moss Rose by a club official after complaining of feeling unwell, Wright-Phillips contacted City chairman John Wardle and asked for permission to speak with Chelsea and pleaded for a compromise solution to be reached.
“Our chairman has spoken to Shaun on the way from the ground and Shaun has asked the club for permission to talk to Chelsea,” a City spokesman said.
“Shaun has expressed a desire for Manchester City to reach an agreement with Chelsea over his transfer.”
