Chelsea snap up French star

Chelsea have signed French youngster Lassana Diarra from Le Havre.

The Paris-born 20-year-old has signed for the Barclays Premiership champions on undisclosed terms.

Although Le Havre finished in the lower reaches of the French second division last season, Diarra earned international recognition.

He was selected for France Under-21 duty this summer and won five caps while helping the young national team win the Toulon Tournament.

Diarra had been training with Chelsea and is likely to make his debut when Jose Mourinho’s squad begin their US tour next week.
