Move would do Vieira good: Zidane

Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane has urged Patrick Vieira to leave Arsenal.

Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane has urged Patrick Vieira to leave Arsenal.

Vieira’s future at Highbury is in the balance, and Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has revealed it will be discussed at a board meeting next week.

The Gunners have held talks with high-ranking officials from Juventus concerning Vieira’s future.

But the Turin club could face opposition from Real, who were close to signing Vieira last summer only for the 29-year-old to stay at Arsenal and lead the club to FA Cup glory.

Zidane, who played alongside Vieira as France won the World Cup and European Championships, told the Daily Mirror: “After eight years at one club it would be good for Patrick to have a big move. He is still at an age where he is at the top of his game.”
