Fleming hoping for return to St Pat's

Former Republic of Ireland star Curtis Fleming is hoping to secure a move back to his first club St Patrick’s Athletic after starting training with the club.

Fleming was one of the stars in the League of Ireland for St Pats helping them lift the title in 1990 before moving to England where he had a successful career with Middlesbrough, Birmingham City, Crystal Palace and Darlington while he also won ten caps for Ireland.

Now 37, Fleming has an option of another year with Darlington but would prefer to return to his native Dublin and he has begun training with St Pats in the hope of securing a contract.

Fleming said: "I just want to put my name around and see what happens. My options are open, but ideally I’d like to come back to St Pats. However, it may not be as easy as that as the manager John McDonnell may not really be in the situation where he can bring me in."
