Reds warm up for TNS with win in Wales

Steven Gerrard ended the most turbulent week of his life on a high as Liverpool warmed up to face Total Network Solutions with an unconvincing victory at Wrexham.

Having signed a new four-year deal yesterday, the Reds skipper celebrated by parading the European Cup around the Racecourse Ground with Jamie Carragher before playing the opening half.

He gave a typically dominant 45-minute display as Rafael Benitez fielded a total of 21 players ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League first-round qualifier.

Fernando Morientes and Milan Baros both notched clinical braces, while new signings Jose Reina and Boudewijn Zenden also played the opening half.
