Harps push victorious Derry all the way
Derry City 3 Finn Harps 2
Derry consolidated third place in the table with this rousing derby win in a five goal thriller at the Brandywell.
The night began badly for Harps as boss Felix Healy was sent off before game for querying the new offside rule.
Derry took the lead on 19 minutes when Ciaran Martyn touched home Killian Brennan’s cross.
Martyn then set up Mark Farren to tap in his eighth goal of the season to make it 2-0 on 27 minutes.
But Harps were well in the match and got a goal back within a minute with a cracking strike from Kevin McHugh.
But Brennan killed off Harps with their third goal on 50 minutes.
McHugh hit his second of the night six minutes later, but Derry held out.
