Drogheda bid for O'Callaghan

Drogheda United have launched a €20,000 bid to sign Cork City star George O’Callaghan.

O’Callaghan, 25, is out of contract at Turner’s Cross at the end of the season and talks have been ongoing about a new deal. Cork must now decide whether to cash in now or risk losing the midfielder for free at the end of the season.

O’Callaghan may be keen to stay and fight for the title with his home town club despite Drogheda’s pledge to make him the highest paid player in the League.

Meanwhile, Drogheda have also pulled out of the deal to bring Northern Ireland international striker Gary Hamilton to United Park after refusing to meet Portadown’s €60,000 asking price.
