Drogheda United moved a step closer to signing Northern Ireland striker Gary Hamilton after the player travelled to Louth yesterday to view the club’s facilities.

Drogheda United moved a step closer to signing Northern Ireland striker Gary Hamilton after the player travelled to Louth yesterday to view the club’s facilities.

Hamilton, 25, is on the transfer list at Portadown after manager Ronnie McFall accused the striker of having attitude and fitness problems, though he is very highly-rated and being tracked by a number of clubs.

Drogheda are also keeping tabs on Glen Fitzpatrick’s situation at Shelbourne.
