Lundekvam keen to follow Strachan

Norway defender Claus Lundekvam has confirmed he is keen to join Celtic.

The 32-year-old is valued at around £700,000 (€1.1m) by Southampton, where he was a regular under new Hoops boss Gordon Strachan.

He said: “It would be a move that interests me. I am aware there is an interest from Celtic and I am waiting to see what happens next.

“I enjoyed working under Gordon at Southampton. He did an excellent job for both me and the club.

“If something comes up again to work with him then I would consider it.”

The centre-half has two years left on his contract but it is understood the Saints would be willing to let him go.

Strachan is also waiting to hear if Poland striker Maciej Zurawski is to join first signing Mo Camara at the club.

A contract offer has been made to the player, who returned to his homeland yesterday, and a bid lodged with club Wisla Krakow.

Turkish club Trabzonspor are also keen to sign the 28-year-old however.

The player’s UK agent Raymond Sparkes said: “There is a time element to it now. Hopefully everything will be ironed out within the next seven days.

“The player has a great desire to play for Celtic and I am very hopeful. It is more than 50-50.”
