Galway did well in the first half, creating the best chance on 31 minutes.

Ryan Casey’s left wing cross picked out David O’Dowd but he planted his header over the bar.

Billy Clery had an overhead kick cleared off the line by Alan Bennett in the second half as Cork held out.
