Kluivert deal put on hold
Valencia’s deal for former Newcastle striker Patrick Kluivert has been put on ice after the player failed a medical.
The club’s director of sport Javier Subirats revealed the former Dutch international would undergo a second medical in two to three weeks amid concerns about his knee.
“He has taken the decision well,” Subirats told the club website www.valenciacf.es.
The website reported: “Valencia CF has announced this evening its decision to postpone the presentation of Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert who will undergo a new medical between 15 and 20 days.”
The deposed Spanish champions had announced the three-year deal subject to a medical last week after Kluivert’s year-long deal at St James’ Park expired.
“We want to have the certainty the player will be 100% because we are interested in him,” said Subirats.
