Barcelona vice-president Ferran Soriano has denied Arsenal’s Thierry Henry is on his shopping list and claims the club have no plans to sign a world star this summer.
Barca president Joan Laporta and coach Frank Rijkaard have both admitted they are fans of the Frenchman but Soriano claims the Catalan side are happy with their present squad.
Soriano’s words calm fears at Highbury that their star striker will become unsettled by transfer talk.
“Henry is obviously a great player but is not a target for us at the moment,” Soriano told said.
“We are probably not going to buy expensively now because in the first two years we have invested €100m on new players which is a significant amount of money.
“Our technical staff believe that we have the backbone of the team in place as we are the champions and we do not want to change this.
“We have signed Mark van Bommel and we will add one or two more but that will be it, although the summer is very long and we cannot say now that there definitely won’t be a big signing.”
