Ince signs new Wolves deal

Wolves captain Paul Ince has signed a new one-year contract at the Championship club.

The 37-year-old former Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder helped Wanderers win promotion in 2003 in his first season at Molineux and now current boss Glenn Hoddle hopes his one-time England skipper can repeat the feat.

Hoddle told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted Paul has put pen to paper. He’s proved to me over the last year he still has a lot to offer the club.

“He gets other players to respond and it was important we kept him. I’m over the moon we’ve secured his signature.”

Ince had considered retirement after leaving Middlesbrough two years ago but will now continue his playing career past his 38th birthday in October.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey told the club’s official website www.wolves.co.uk: “He joined us three years ago and this latest contract is a testament to the way he has looked after himself.”
