Mutu set for Juve debut

Sacked Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu could make his Juventus debut tomorrow after completing his seven-month drugs ban.

The Romanian joined the Turin giants – who clinched the Serie A title last weekend – shortly after the suspension was imposed by the English Football Association, prompting Chelsea to seek compensation from the player.

That case is ongoing but the striker may be handed his first appearance in Italy since leaving Parma for Stamford Bridge for £15.8m (€22.9m) in August 2003.

The Old Lady take on Cagliari and Mutu may find himself up against Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola, enjoying an Indian summer to his career with Daniele Arrigoni’s side.

With nothing at stake there would no risk in pitching Mutu into the match with the Sardinians. Cagliari, promoted last season, have fared well and go into the last weekend in ninth position.
