Novo hero for SPL winners Rangers
FT: Hibernian 0 Rangers 1
Nacho Novo’s 59th-minute goal gave Rangers victory at Hibernian – and a miracle in Motherwell handed them the title.
Rangers knew they had to win at Easter Road to have any chance but Celtic had still appeared to be on course to lift the Bank of Scotland Premier League title.
Two late Motherwell goals changed all that however and Alex McLeish and his men were able to celebrate a title victory few had thought possible.
Antonio Murray replaced Beuzelin with 16 minutes remaining.
Novo and Scott Brown were both booked following a clash and, from Ferguson’s free-kick, Whittaker and Arveladze were hurt in a clash of heads.
Glass fired just wide as Rangers tried to hang on to what they had already got, with Hibs not overly fussed either as they were still on course to pip Aberdeen for the UEFA Cup spot.
And, with two minutes remaining, the Rangers fans went wild when news of a Motherwell equaliser came over the airwaves.
Incredibly, another Well goal followed and the Rangers players celebrated wildly as soon as the final whistle was blown.
