Linfield win inaugural Setanta Cup

Linfield lifted the inaugural Setanta Cup with a stunning brace of first half goals.

The opener came on 28 minutes.

Aidan O’kane’s left wing cross picked out Glenn Ferguson who beat Steve Williams in the Shels goal with a terrific volley.

Williams was beaten again on 37 minutes when Ferguson set up Peter Thompson who drilled his shot to the net from the edge of the area.

The match then ended on a real sour note for Shels as they had both Jason Byrne and Alan Moore sent off in stoppage time for dissent.
