Happy Monday for Wednesday as Bees stung in play-offs
Brentford 1 Sheffield Wednesday 2 (Sheffield Wednesday win 3-1 on aggregate)
Sheffield Wednesday are one match away from promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship after a comfortable aggregate win over Brentford in the League One play-off semi-final.
Leading 1-0 from the first leg at Hillsborough, Paul Sturrock’s team triumphed at Griffin Park thanks to goals in either half from Lee Peacock and substitute Chris Brunt.
Apart from a 20-minute spell before the Owls’ opener, Martin Allen’s side rarely looked threatening, although Andy Frampton pulled a goal back late on.
