Blues fight back for derby draw

Waterford United 2 Cork City 2

Vinny Sullivan kept his head to score an 80th minute penalty and earn 10-man Blues a deserved draw.

Kevin Doyle headed home Neal Horgan’s cross to give Cork a 40th minute lead.

Blues then had skipper John Frost sent off on 51 minutes for a second booking.

But they battled back to level eight minutes later when David Breen headed home Colm Heffernan’s free-kick.

Dan Murray restored City’s lead on 62 minutes with a super header from George O’Callaghan’s free-kick.

Heffernan was then upended by Alan Bennett to allow Sullivan the final twist in a thrilling derby.
