Henry looks to allay fitness fears

Thierry Henry is looking to prove his fitness for the FA Cup final in Sunday’s final Premiership game of the season when Arsenal travel to Birmingham.

The 27-year-old made his comeback from a groin injury as a second-half substitute in Arsenal’s 7-0 rout of Everton at Highbury on Wednesday night.

He showed no signs of having been absent for the previous month, even though - for once – he failed to get on the scoresheet, and his fitness was being reassessed yesterday.

Arsene Wenger nevertheless revealed his intention to hand Henry a starting role against Birmingham to prove his sharpness for the following weekend’s clash against Manchester United in Cardiff.

The Gunners boss said: “Thierry looks like he didn’t suffer physically but we will have to see how he reacts.

“Maybe he will play for 90 minutes at Birmingham on Sunday and then we can go from there.”

Henry added: “I feel great, it was a great result. I just wanted to go out and have a run, and that is what I did.”
