Longford look to continue run

Longford Town can continue their recent Cup dominance by qualifying for the Setanta Cup final with a victory over Irish League giants Linfield at Windsor Park tonight.

Mathews must plan without defender Stephen Paisley who is suspended after being sent off in a 1-0 victory over Glentoran two weeks ago meaning Sean Dillon is likely to partner Barry Ferguson in defence with Sean Pruntry taking Dillon’s place at left back.

Linfield, whose last shot at silverware this season is through the Setanta Cup, will be without suspended midfielder Michael Gault.

Despite the financial incentive, Blues’ boss David Jeffrey insisted that it is the trophy that most interests his players. “The money is not driving us on, it’s the chance to get to a final and win silverware,” he said.
