Bramble admits Magpies have left fans down

Newcastle defender Titus Bramble has already turned his attentions to the new Premiership season and the task of putting a disastrous campaign behind him.

Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Everton – the side which yesterday clinched the fourth place the Magpies set their sights on back in August – means Graeme Souness’ men can finish the season no higher than 11th.

“We know this has not been good enough by Newcastle United’s standards,” said Bramble. “We should not be in the bottom half of the Premiership.

“I hope I am still here next season because I want to help put it right and get this club back into Europe.”

Newcastle bring down the curtain on their under-achieving campaign at home to champions Chelsea on Sunday.
