Maguire resigns from Rovers chair

Tony Maguire has resigned as Shamrock Rovers chairman after two and a half years in charge.

Maguire, along with fellow director Paul Boyle, resigned following a meeting with the FAI Club Licensing Committee that had sought answers into a number of questions relating to Shamrock Rovers’ Club Licence application.

It is understood that the pair opted to resign to allow a potential new investor, who could come on board following the examinership process, a clean slate to start from.

The two directors' decision to resign will not affect the FAI’s position nor will it affect the continued day-to-day running of Shamrock Rovers by the examinership steering group.
