Saints recall Ormerod from Wigan

Southampton have recalled striker Brett Ormerod from his loan spell at Wigan.

Saints boss Harry Redknapp has utilised the 24-hour recall clause to cut short Ormerod’s stay at the JJB Stadium.

Fellow Southampton striker Peter Crouch sustained an injury in the warm-up prior to Sunday’s defeat at Portsmouth.

The 28-year-old, who struck both goals in the Latics’ recent win at Leicester, had been due to stay at Wigan until the end of the season.
