Peace wants methodical approach to signings.

Jeremy Peace believes West Brom will look start to increasingly abroad for new players and has stressed the need to improve the club’s scouting system if they are to unearth the next Zoltan Gera.

Hungarian skipper Gera has proved to be a bargain capture after being signed for £1.5m (€2.2m) from Ferencvaros last summer by previous Albion manager Gary Megson.

But chairman and major shareholder Peace believes the Baggies’ approach to scouting has been hit and miss for too long.

He revealed plans are in hand to ensure other budding stars of the future on the continent can be sought out, monitored and brought to The Hawthorns if manager Bryan Robson thinks they are suitable.

Peace said: “We’ve had a look at the scouting system. It has been too scatter-gun in the past and we have to get more systematic about the way we do it.

“We will now look to strengthen the scouting system and I think we need to look more at Europe in terms of our market place at this level.

“If you were to think of 10 players that could cross the divide between the Championship and the Premier League, that might just be about it.

“We do need to look at Europe and do things in such a way so as we know about players’ characters and how they will integrate into this country.

“I think you will see us getting that up and running in the summer. If we’ve got people in place that can spot the talent early like Zoltan Gera, who has been superb for us, then so much the better for us.”
