City stopper out for season

Manchester City goalkeeper Geert De Vlieger has been ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up a foot injury in training.

The 33-year-old Belgium stopper broke a bone in his foot at Carrington training base, just weeks after returning to fitness following a ruptured Achilles.

De Vlieger arrived at Eastlands last summer on a free transfer from Dutch club Willem II but was injured in a pre-season friendly against Wolves.
